Proud Parent

To the FLYCA team,

What a day. I can only imagine the amount of emails you will or should get after an amazing day like that, but I wanted to make sure that I thanked you first for helping get the replacement package so the family could be there with my son on Saturday. Then for the amazing work you all do there to change the lives of the Cadets. I saw a major transformation in my son, major. ¬†And for that change to take effect, there was a huge team of people on the front lines and behind the scenes that make it happen. I thank God every day that I became aware of FLYCA, and that my son was able to get into Class 24. He has found a strength and a purpose from the Challenge and is setting his sight on his goal of taking the training further and working on plans for going into the Army. Something in him just clicked and from the first glimpse of him standing straight and tall with that determined look on his face, to that first hug long and emotional hug, I knew he had truly changed. That change was profound and real and echoed in the words of the Cadre’s, teachers, and other leaders. I was blown away. His mother was so amazed that she actually told me “you were right, this is just what he needed” (and I have witnesses!).

So I wanted to send a very personal thank you that comes from the very bottom of my heart, to the entire FLYCA team for the dedication you have to our children’s future. And to the Cadre of 2nd Platoon Wolfpack, a special thank you for having the patience and determination to work through my sons “I want to go home” issues the first couple of weeks, and for the job in transforming a lost soul into a focused, disciplined, determined, and goal oriented young man. And to the teachers who work tirelessly and patiently to bring knowledge and unlock their ability for learning, thank you for your efforts and for the recognition you provide to instill the pride in their academic achievements.

It takes an entire team to make the program work, and you have a most excellent team – from end to end. From the recruiting to the in-processing to the everyday efforts, you all are a blessing from God and I am thankful you dedicate your lives to helping our children better theirs.

From a very proud father, you have given my son renewed purpose and hope.

It was a truly awesome day you all put together, regardless of the weather. Great job! Thank you somehow doesn’t say enough…but thank you.

Cadet of 2nd Platoon Wolfpack!

To all of the FLYCA staff,

I can not begin to express my gratitude for what you have done for my son. He is graduating from class 22, 2nd platoon in 5 days! He has passed and completed 4 out of 5 sections of the GED. He will receive tutoring in math and retest at Lake Tech in August. From there he plans to attend Lake Sumter Community College. He needs 15 credits in order to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corp. This is his dream! I will support, encourage and guide him through this process. As well as my dad who is his mentor. I am sending a picture of us taken on the last home pass. We ran our 1st 5k race. My son finished 27!!! I found it so wonderfully amazing that we did something so fun together.

Prior to FLYCA, I did not believe he would have been caught dead with his mother who he thought was out to ruin his life. He was disrespectful and we fought a lot. The staff at FLYCA has renewed family values, respect, appreciation and humility to my boy! He has become a fine young man, this all thanks to each and every one of you! He stands tall and proud. Everyone is so happy and proud for him. The confidence instilled in my son is a true testimony to the hard work and dedication of everyone at you academy.

He is proud to be a part of your success. He loves the hair cut and loves it when people ask him if he is a marine. Of course, he always tells the truth and then talks of his dreams. His eyes are wide and bright. Not dark and sunken, he speaks to me kindly and offers help. Not yelling and cursing and refusing to do chores. I see my son becoming the man that God meant for him to be. Thank you can never be enough, I just want you to know how grateful I am for all of you angels and soldiers of God. I will continue to sing your praises to all who will listen. May God bless you all as you carry on your great work to so many other hurting and broken kids!

Sincerely,
Parent of 2nd platoon cadet

Dear Director and DD,

I wanted to thank you guys for hanging with me as my light slowly turned on in my head. I was lost when I first got here and did not know where I was going. I was caught up in drugs, drug dealing & theft. My family was pushing me away because of all the crazy stuff I was doing. Then about a month before report day I told my mom and dad that I was attending a military style program called FLYCA to give one last shot at my education.

I am now sitting one day out of graduation, a day I never thought I would reach, a day I thought my family would never see me reach. After I leave ChalleNGe I am going to go try out for some college teams. If that does not work out then I am going to the Marines. Again, I wanted to thank you two for not just giving me once chance but numerous chances to change my life around a complete 360 degrees. I love you guys and will be back to visit!

Thank you so much for keeping me at FLYCA when everyone else was ready to give up on me. Thanks for giving me time to change and improve as a person and a cadet. As well as giving me the skills to be a successful in life and giving me the opportunity to walk across that stage with a diploma that I can say I earned! I thank you so much for giving me time to show you that I can shine!

Dear FLYCA,

I want to take this time to thank you for accepting my son into your academy, to take time to help him. I am sincerely sorry for my son actions, on his home pass. He chose a bad thing to do and he got punished for it. I truly think that the FLYCA program is a blessing for youth today. I hope it keeps going for many years to come. Thank you again and God bless you all. You all are doing a wonderful thing for our youth.

Sincerely,
